A Bout of Diarrhea

Jun 10, 2011 by

We were in a bit of panic today as we rushed our youngest to the doctor. He is suffering from diarrhea. I thought it would go away so I just took care of him by hydrating him everytime he poops. But today, I was alarmed when he pooped three times during lunch. So we called several clinics but was told that the pediatrician already left before noon and the only available one will be coming in at 6pm. It was a mall clinic so they still have doctors coming in at night.

So we arrived there at 6pm and waited and waited. They assured us that the doctor has confirmed she is coming. Unfortunately, at the last minute she called to say that she wouldn’t be able to come anymore. Maybe she was stuck in traffic or maybe she had an emergency case, I really don’t know but I felt really bad after.

Anyway, being just let down by someone I immediately recalled the case of Topamax. This drug was approved by the FDA for epilepsy and migraine treatment only to be recalled and declared unsafe for pregnant women. Studies have shown that women who used the drug while pregnant were more likely to have children that have defects in the oral palate. I’m sure they felt really bad and let down after trusting that the drug they took was safe. Needless to say, they filed for a Topamax lawsuit to get the compensation. If you are one of those people who might have taken the drug and had such consequence, contact an attorney immediately to help you out.
