Why A Sofa is Important

I am really particular when it comes to choosing our sofa. I don’t mind splurging on one because it is the focal point of our living room. It is the first thing visitors see when they visit our house. That’s also where we will entertain our guests so it must not only look good but also be comfortable to sit on. Ours is one of the most used furniture in the house. Since we still have small kids we got a black one. It was a genius move really because I don’t have a heart attack every time my son drops his peanut butter sandwich accidentally or when my baby drools over it. The disadvantage about dark sofas is it can get hot.

I am also a fan of those big seaters. The bigger the sofa, the better for me because sometimes I want to lie down on it while watching my favorite shows on TV. That’s why when we bought our first one I bought the biggest one I can afford. It almost didn’t fit our small apartment but we never ran out of space to sit on. *wink

Nervous about Building our First House

As the months get closer and closer to the time we’ll be finally rebuilding our home we get more and more nervous. It is because of the fact that this is the first time we’re going to build one. Aside from that it’s not unusual for the cost of building a house to spiral out of control and we’re afraid we’ll get into a deep debt in exchange for this. I have heard of manufactured homes that cost less but we don’t have those in our place so we don’t have a choice but go the traditional route.

Nobody wants to be in debt but on the other hand, everyone wants to have his own house. I guess we just have to be thankful that part of the cost will be shouldered by a kind benefactor and that we’ll get a lot of help on the way. Some friends say that their own parent’s houses were years in the making. Even though we don’t have enough budget for our dream home now we can just add little by little as the years come.

Our Rustic Rocking Chair

Whenever I see rustic furniture, I remember my hometown. I grew up in a small fishing village in the north. We live a quiet and simple life. We don’t go to the malls to buy a furniture unlike the practice of people today. My grandfather, who was an adept carpenter, was the one who creates beautiful furniture with rustic decor to go with it.

I can still remember when he was creating our big round dining room table as if it was yesterday. When it was finally finished we excitedly ate our first meal there. It has a circular tray in the center and I would play with it as long as I can get away with it. My grandmother would cast a stern look and I will stop out of fear of being spanked.

My favorite furniture of all is our rocking chair. It looks slightly like the rocking chair in the picture but more sturdier. I didn’t see how it was made because it was there even before I was born. I even have pictures of me as a baby sitting there with my grandma. I spent my childhood sitting there and daydreaming the afternoon away. Now that I am already older I still miss it. I bought a Lazy boy recliner that rocks for breastfeeding my baby but I would give that away in a snap to have our old rocking chair back.

Replacement Hose for my Washing Machine

When I was without help, my mom would come over to look at how we were doing. I was coping up with the housework and with having two kids but I was tired. My only complaint was that I couldn’t find the hose of our washing machine. In order to put water I would fill a pail and pour water in the washing machine until it is almost halfway full leaving me with aching arms and back. A Patio for Our New House

In just a few month’s time we hope that we can start the renovation of our house. I thought it would take years but thank God my father-in-law offered to shell out some money so we can start this year. We were really nervous when we decided to move here.  During the past flood it was flooded up to the thigh. So I know another flood would meant we would be saying goodbye to our furniture.

As my husband and I were looking at different house plans I can’t help but remark how I wish we would have a front yard where we could relax during a busy week. In the house where I grew up we had a patio with a hanamint patio furniture to boot. Hanamint furniture is perfect for the outdoors because it is water proof. You could leave it outside all year round and it would still maintain its quality condition.  I remember during my eight birthday my grandmother threw me a small party. I invited a few friends and we all sit in our outdoor patio furniture.  My grandma served us cakes and ice cream and it was one of those days when I felt I was a princess.

Excited for a Wedding

Weddings are always wonderful. There’s nothing more heartwarming than two people deciding to tie be with each other for the rest of their lives. Our friends are doing just that next week. Z is the ring bearer and we are happy to be part of this special moment of their lives.

We all know it is so exciting to prepare for a wedding. But after the celebration, we are set back to reality where we have to face daily challenges and so much more.
