My Advanced Birthday Present

Feb 23, 2011 by

… is a Lazy Boy recliner.

Thanks to my hubby who didn’t hesitate to buy me this when he saw how much I really wanted it.  Now, breastfeeding Zachary is such a breeze. I can rock him to sleep and he dozes off in a few minutes. Yes, he loves it too! Last night, I read Z a storybook in my new chair and I’m glad we can both fit.  It’s an understatement to say that Z loves it.  He rolls, tumbles, lie down, hang upside down, and does a lot of acrobatic moves in it. He asks all the time if he can sit on it and it’s hard to say no to those cute doe eyes of his I tell you! So I let him sit on it when I’m not busy. During times like these, however, when everybody else is asleep I have it all by myself and I sigh at how comfortable it is. I hope I can still do work on it or else I’m doomed. haha

Feb 18, 2011 by

When a flood ravaged our neighbor’s houses we couldn’t help but feel sorry for them.  All their possessions and furniture were drenched in muddy water.  It took them a week of cleaning to get all those stuff out. Luckily for us, we were in the third floor so we were saved from all of that. We have since moved to lower ground so I know next time we get flooded we won’t get be as lucky. I hope there will be a miracle but if there isn’t then I know who to call to help us out. The Steam Team has been helping in cleaning and restoration for 25 years.  They specialize in carpet cleaning but they have since branched out to include cleaning services for pro air duct cleaning austin, upholstery, tile, and grout cleaning.  We would surely get their services to have our damaged furniture cleaned.  It’s cheaper and more practical than just throwing our stuff and buying new furniture plus you know you’re in good hands because they have been doing it for so long and they have specialized equipment like power washing wand austin and power washing trucks austin.

Different Hot Tub Designs

Feb 9, 2011 by

Despite their tremendous cost, hot tubs have become popular luxury fixtures in the homes of those individuals who can afford them. Of course, it is not enough to just have a hot tub. Some people would like a hot tub and an accompanying deck area that would reflect their style and personality.

Let us take a look at some of the more popular hot tub design ideas

1) Wooden hot tubs, made from oak or redwood, are preferably placed on raised platforms with wooden steps to give them that “Old West” aura.

2) If the hot tub is installed in a part of the home with very limited space, you can have a detached deck constructed where you can entertain family and guests. Some of these detached decks even come with a mini-bar.

3) Another option for hot tubs that would be installed in a small space is to first construct a multiple level deck. This set up closely resembles a sporting arena, with the hot tub constructed deep into the ground (like the arena’s playing field) with ascending bleacher type levels encircling it.

4) For a more classic feel, you can have your hot tub installed right in the middle of a gazebo or a pergola.

5) Perhaps the most expensive hot tub design is that of a ground spa. Resembling a Japanese onsen (or “hot spring”), ground spas require the installation of a special heating system utilizing electricity or gas. Some of the more lavish ground spas have rocky shelves for seats and a flowing waterfall.

Added Benefits of Putting Window Shades and Blinds in Your Home

Feb 9, 2011 by

Most homeowners initially hesitate to buy window shades or blinds thinking of the added cost and the wrong belief that these household fixtures are difficult to clean and maintain.

However, blinds serve a number of benefits to the home. First and foremost, blinds provide a unique, modern look to rooms, which could not be achieved with the use of curtains. Regular curtains can be cumbersome to pull back and tie up when you want sunlight to enter a room. With blinds, you either twist a controller on a cord so that the panels open up or you can simply pull the blinds up.

Another benefit of installing blinds is that it serves as insulation for a room. Because it helps to maintain temperature inside a room, you can minimize your power expenses for heating and cooling.

Unlike curtains which are usually made out of a gauzy or see-through material, blinds are more effective in according privacy to certain rooms in the home, such as the bedroom or bathroom.

Blinds are available in a variety of styles, colors and materials. All you have to do is to choose the type of blinds best suited to the room or rooms where you’ll be installing them. Some online distributors offer customization services, so that you can get the shades or blinds that follow the specific measurements of your windows.

How to Keep Your Bathroom Smelling Fresh and Clean

Jan 11, 2011 by

Of all rooms in the house, most people deeply desire the comforts of the bedroom. This may be because of all those huggable fluffs and dainty linens that could embrace a person with so much tenderness. And with this, we can say that the least loved room of all is the bathroom. Why is this so?

People imagine all the grimes and slimy molds inside the bathroom, thus making them hate it. But when you simply know how to keep your bathroom smelling fresh and clean as always, it will be lined up to the most loved parts of the room.

One thing to keep in mind is to keep the toilet bowl, bathroom sink, bathtubs and tiles cleaned and disinfected. By doing this you are keeping your house germ-free and your family protected from common illnesses. Be sure to wipe the floor and walls of the bathroom because a wet one will be a breeding ground for bacteria.

How to Find the Right Apartment for You

Jan 2, 2011 by

We have spent the first years of our married life renting different apartments.  I still remember the first time we set out to find our first ever apartment.  We were still three in the family then and Z was only 2 years old.  We didn’t plan for anything.  We thought we would be able to find an apartment in just a day.  However, we were wrong.  We set out early in the morning but night time already came and we weren’t able to find a suitable one. We have things to consider like our budget and its accessibility to my husband’s office.  There were many apartments accessible but since its close to the business district its price tag  unfortunately don’t fit our budget.  By night we accepted defeat, we also wasted our money, time and effort.

So how do you find the right place to live?  First, you have to do your research.  If you are moving to an unfamiliar area then you can seek advice from a friend or a colleague who is already familiar with the place. In our case, after wasting an entire day of not finding anything we seek the advice of my husband’s friend who was also renting his own apartment.  He directed us to a place, also near where he lives, and sure enough we saw lots of apartments for rent there.  The good news was it was within our budget.  We also found out that the owner of the apartment had his apartment listed online.  If we only knew this we wouldn’t have to waste a day physically going from place to place looking for an apartment.  The internet is our friend.  You can just Google “Los Angeles apartments” and chances are you will be able to find the thing you’re looking for.
