How to Produce More Breast Milk

Nov 12, 2010 by

I am determined to try breastfeeding this time around that’s why as early as now I’ve been researching on how to product more breast milk. One thing I found out is that there is no food or drink that would literally increase the production of breast milk. The more your baby nurses the more breast milk you will produce – it’s as simple as that. However, it is also important to replenish the fluid that is lost so be sure to drink lots and lots of water. A nursing mother should also eat a healthy and balanced diet because breastfeeding can be stressful and if you have unhealthy eating habits then your body won’t be up to produce the milk your baby needs. Last but not the least, stress can reduce your breast milk production so be sure to take lots of rest and maintain a happy disposition while nursing.

The Last Stretch

Nov 10, 2010 by

This is the last stretch. One more month and I will be giving birth. It has been an easy pregnancy thank God. Now what I’m worried about is the delivery. I am expecting a big baby again and you know how hard it is to deliver big babies. Anyway, I’ll just do the best I can so I don’t have to be operated on.
One thing to help me get through is by focusing on the things that I miss when I still wasn’t pregnant. Like wearing special occasion dresses on special occasions. It’s not that practical to invest on maternity clothes so I only have a few nice clothes. I miss feeling sexy again and it’s hard to feel that way when my stomach is this big. I’m glad that I’m pregnant but that doesn’t mean I’d like to stay pregnant forever. That’s why I’m really looking forward to getting my old body back.

Baby Announcement

Baby Announcement

In a few months we’ll be giving out baby announcements! I had my ultrasound a few months ago and according to the report I will be due to give birth on December 10. The first time I was pregnant I gave birth a exactly a week before. I hope I give birth the first days of December. The farther my baby’s birthday from Christmas and the holidays that will follow, the better. I want him/her to have a proper celebration so he/she will be able to enjoy her special day.  One more thing, it will give us enough time to prepare for my husband’s and Z’s birthday who will be both celebrating their birthday on January.

Breastfeeding Jitters

Breastfeeding Jitters

I failed the first time I tried to breastfeed and that’s the reason why my first born grew up on milk from cans. I believe the main reason was I was not informed. There was no one to teach me how to breastfeed. The only thing I knew then from the TV commercials I see everyday is that cow’s milk is also a safe alternative. I, myself, grew up on cow’s milk so I thought it was okay for my son.

Now that I’m older how I regret that I didn’t try harder and that instead I believed all the commercials I saw on TV. I can’t bring back the time but I just like to thank God that my first born is healthy and not sickly. But this time around, I don’t want to make the same mistake again so I have been researching on how to breastfeed particularly on how increase breast milk production. I know now that it’s normal to not have any breastmilk a few days after the baby is born. All I have to do is persevere and not give up. I learned that the first hour after the baby is born is crucial as babies who are nursed within the first hour are more likely to become successful breastfeeders. To establish milk supply, I also have to nurse the baby often. I’m really thankful I’m a work-at-home mom. I know I will succeed this time and I would be able breastfeed my baby as long as necessary.
