Our Christmas Gifts for 2010

Rodliz’s Nest

Merry Christmas, everyone!  I know Christmas is over but I am still in denial over it.  We spent Noche Buena at my in-laws house and there were so many food on the table that I didn’t get to taste all of them.  As for the gifts, we’re pretty frugal in that sense.  We only got one gift for each.  So are you wondering what we got each other for Christmas?  Here it is:

Z got himself a Beyblade set.  His dad bought it two weeks before Christmas.  I didn’t want Z to open it until Christmas eve and he did great.  He would just hug his toy unopened and stare at the pictures outside the box.  I wanted to teach him delayed gratification but somebody else couldn’t wait and it was his Dad. hahaha  So out came the beyblade a week before Christmas.  It backfired on his Dad though because playing beyblade is no fun without a playmate so now Daddy has to play and shout, “Let it rip!” a hundred times after coming home from work.hehe  I just laugh at him everytime he collapses in bed complaining about it.

Hubby got himself a Line 6 Pod Hd400 guitar effects.  If that sounds Greek to you then you’re not alone.  It costs a fortune in the Philippines but at eBay it’s more affordable.  Good thing my brother will be coming home from the US this January so we bought one at eBay, had it shipped to his address, and he’ll hand carry it for us when he goes home.  It will be a late Christmas gift and birthday gift for hubby in one.

As for me, I wanted so many things.  I wasted so many hours browsing the web for an iPhone, a Macbook Pro, and an Ipod Touch but practicality got the best of me.  So I just went shopping for some nursing blouses which I really need.  Anyway, I got the best gift a few days after Christmas.  I learned our investment in mutual funds has almost doubled after three years!  Too bad, we only made a small investment because three years ago they still don’t accept online payments so we kind of neglected it.  The good news is now you can deposit money online, so hurray!  Now I’m so glad I kept my money instead of wasting it on Apple gadgets that get replaced every six months or so. :)

Lusting for a New Phone

Nov 24, 2010 by

It has been months that I have been lusting over a new phone. I currently have the Sony Ericsson Cybershot phone which I think is already two years old. I have seen touch phones like the iPhone and Android phones like the htc desire and of course, I want to have those! One thing stops me is the fact that I’m always at home with a landline by my side so it’s not practical for me to splurge 20k or more on a phone.  I would rather save it for a new laptop instead which I need in my job.

Anyway, I’m so impulsive when it comes to shopping and with Christmas just a few weeks away I hope I can resist buying a new phone.  Can you help me?

Searching for Travelling Bags

Nov 16, 2010 by

It was my hubby’s first time to ride the airplane last Sunday.  He is going to stay there for 5 whole days.  Aside from the songwriting camp there would be lots of fun activities like swimming since they would be staying in a resort.  He needed lots of clothes to bring but his problem was he didn’t have a decent bag.

I realized we would need to invest on a good luggage bag if he is going to be traveling a lot.  I went online to try to find some quality yet affordable luggage we can buy.  It has to be durable to be able to endure being stored in the airplane luggage area.  It also must have some safety feature like a locking system so it won’t be opened that easily.  Lastly, the popular luggage bag with wheels would be ideal so he wouldn’t have to carry a big bag on his shoulders.  I’m currently choosing between three different brands – Hartmann Luggage, Tumi Luggage, and Rimowa Luggage.  I heard these are the premiums brands trusted by professionals.

Lins Products

Oct 27, 2010 by

Remember when it became a fad for people to take courses on how to make laundry soap, fabric, softener, dishwashing liquid, and the like?  Well, I never really tried any of it because it’s not easily available.  I was also doubtful about the quality and I don’t know if I will really get my money’s worth on these homemade products.

It has been  some time since this fad started and by now I know a lot has already stopped selling their own products – well, except Lins.  Lins, by the company called Magiclean Corp, has withstood the test of time and is still very much alive and kicking.  I have seen refilling stations and although it’s still not that common, we have one just one ride away.  I’m willing to try it because I heard from satisfied users that its quality can rival those of the well-known brands.  I will personally use it once I buy the items and will give you a review so stay tuned!

Black Friday

Oct 15, 2010 by

Black Friday or the Friday after Thanksgiving is the time to start shopping. It is not a holiday like Thanksgiving but shoppers still take time off from work just to participate. The number of people participating in this sale is incredible. Some people even sleep in front of stores just to make sure they are first in line when the store opens.

If you are thinking of buying your much desired gadget then this is the time to shop for it. Stores slash as high as 70% off on their products. I’ve been wanting a new laptop for me, an Ipod Touch for my little boy, and a PS3 for hubby. I will surely get a good deal if I wait to buy it on Black Friday.

If you want to avoid the rush and the huge number of people you can also shop online as some online stores hold Black Friday sales online too.
