Gift Ideas for Your Mom
Aug 31I remember when I was still a child the only gifts I can think of to give my Mom was a card. No matter what the occasion is – birthday, Christmas, New Year I only give her a card and nothing else. Well, who can blame me? I was still a student with no money to my name and where I grew up (in the province) there was no shopping mall at all.
Now that I’m older and have my own job, I don’t give her a card anymore. I’m happy that I can buy her a gift with my own money. But still sometimes I find it difficult to think of what to give her. Do you also find it hard to find your mother an appropriate gift? Mothers don’t complain much so we always assume that they’re contented with what they have and maybe that’s the reason why we don’t know what to give them. Here are a few gift suggestion ideas that you can probably surprise your mother with.
Typical gifts for Mom range from clothing to kitchen utensils and while these are nice gifts to give your mother you can also consider giving other things. Jewelries are mostly expensive but even a simple necklace or a simple ring can surely make your mother happy. The trick here is finding something that can fit your budget. Your mom will surely have a wonderful time showing it off to your friends and would always remember you with happiness every time she sees it on her finger. If you can’t afford a diamond then you can also consider giving your mom her birthstone.
Electronics not only belong to his father. Now your mom can join in the fun as well. As everyone knows, music is very important in today’s world and your mom is most likely a fan of a certain genre of music. Get your own mother iPod or MP3 player so that she can enjoy music while driving, working out, cooking and cleaning.
The digital age has made capturing family moments easier. This holiday give your mom a digital camera or camcorder and she’ll surely spend a lot of time looking at family pictures and reminiscing happy moments.
Women generally have a fairly large closet of clothes and accessories. Give her a new fashionable clothing, a new purse or wallet. Another accessory of course is SHOES! Check out online gift cards your Mom’s favorite shoe store. Or you can take her out to shop for shoes and surprise her by paying for them.
Diamonds
Aug 18We walked by past a jewelry shop last Monday and we decided to pass by and take a look. We have lost our wedding ring and until now we still haven’t bought a replacement. I looked at the diamonds and sighed. How I wish we can afford those!
Just some little known facts about diamonds. The word itself came from the Greek word “adamas” which means unconquerable and indestructible. Diamonds are composed entirely of carbon and even though it is the hardest natural substance in the world it can burn when heated enough (around 1,000 Fahrenheit).
Even during the ancient times, diamonds have been regarded highly and until now they are still regarded as a status symbol.

Our New LCD TV
Jul 02
We finally bought our very own LCD TV last weekend. I know it was an impulse purchase because hours before that we have just refunded the John Mayer VIP tickets we bought months ago. Afterwhich, we found ourselves wandering inside an appliance store. Hubby said I should reward myself and at the same time I was thinking the money could disappear in God knows where if we don’t buy something tangible asap. So in an instant out goes our money from our pocket and into the cashier to pay for the TV. Now I don’t know if we bought a reliable brand (Toshiba) but one of its features is it can be connected to the laptop. So if I wanted to I can use the 32″ screen whenever I’m browsing websites like www.acnewash.org or watching YouTube videos of music I love.
Of course, the most thrilled among the three of us is our darling boy, Z, who can’t believe that he has this huge TV in the living room. I’m regretting a bit buying this so impulsively but I guess the CRT TVs are really going out of style and it’s just time we upgrade to the LCD.
Missing Price Tags
Jul 01For the first time since we moved to hubby’s hometown we went to shop at the supermarket at SM Bicutan. I really miss our old supermarket because of the cheaper prices but I guess we have no choice. One of the things I noticed when we shopped there was most of the items have no price tags. Instead they put barcode scanners all over the place. The frugal shopper in me screamed that this is another tactic by them to leave the shoppers clueless over how much their purchases cost. I had fun using the scanners but I was left wondering why they just couldn’t put the price below the items. Anyway, if that was really their intent it didn’t work for me. I only bought familiar items and those I was not familiar with I went all the way to have it scanned. I can take the extra exercise but as soon as I find another supermarket I will have no sadness leaving that one.
Choosing the Right Computer for my Mom
Apr 30As I’ve mentioned hubby has been helping me to pick the write gift for my mom this mother’s day. He’s looking online and has spent many hours looking for a PC fit for my mom’s needs. I’m getting impatient because he’s turning down one PC ad to another. I can’t understand why it’s taking too long for him to make up his mind. This Saturday we would be going to Binan to visit my mom and it’s only a day away. We still have to pick up the PC from the seller and we can’t do that unless he makes up his mind once and for all. Hubby told me he has to be careful when choosing that’s why it’s taking him this long. My mom’s place is a bit hot and there’s no AC unit which every pc needs so that’s why he wants a PC that has a big system memory so it won’t hang. Oh well, that’s his explanation to me and I still can’t understand it till now. Although I’m using one everyday I don’t know a single thing about computers. So I better trust my husband’s choice because he’s the pro.
