My Crazy Dream

Nov 12, 2011 by

After living in the city these past few years I’m about ready to live in the province. I want to breathe fresh air again and I want a quiet place where I don’t hear vehicles moving down the road. I want my kids to play with dirt and climb trees just like I did when I was little. I even told my hubby what if instead of taking a vacation to Bohol we actually live there even for just a year. It was even possible because he is working at home and Z is homeschooling!

Of course I will miss some things in the city like being close to our favorite malls, going to concerts, buying the latest hip product even if it’s just the best eyelash growth enhancer for my really short curls. I guess just a change of scenery for a year will cure my homesickness (because I grew up in the province) but if we’re actually brave enough to go with it only time will tell.

What I’m OCD About

Nov 7, 2011 by

Okay, I suck at this blog challenge thing but I’m still glad because I have topics ready to write about anytime. Like for today, I’m going to tell you what I’m OCD about. It’s not about making the house clean and tidy but its ‘ll about the food we eat. I’m really conscious about the food my family eats and by that I don’t mean cooking food that are so popular these days – tastes yummy but empty of nutrients or rich in calories. I want them simple and nutritious and I don’t want my family to eat meat all the time.

I alternate between different kinds of food, for example, for Monday we’ll have vegetables, Tuesday – fish, Wednesday – pork, Thursday – veggies again, Friday – chicken, Saturday – fish and veggies, and on Sunday we can indulge and eat something special like the chicken hamonado we had last Sunday.

If I can get away with serving vegetable dishes every day of the week I would but alas I have to keep my husband happy too, right? Obesity is on the rise and if more people will eat healthy even doctors will have a hard time looking for Family or General Practitioner Jobs!

Anyway, let me share you a small success hubby and I had with our eldest. My hubby isn’t really the poster child for healthy eating. He’ll eat hot dogs and chips and drink soda everyday if I don’t bug him about it. If we have vegetables for lunch he’ll loudly declare, “Vegetables again?!” Pretty soon, our son won’t eat his veggies although he was eating these ever since he was little it doesn’t matter. Dad doesn’t eat veggies so he won’t too. When I pointed this out to hubby he realized the negative effect to his son so instead of saying he doesn’t like veggies he would say the opposite. This told Z that hubby and I are united in eating veggies so he had no choice but to follow even if it meant eating the infamous ampalaya. haha! Even hubby who wasn’t used to eating that had no choice but to set an example to his son. But the best part was he actually liked it. So now we’re serving it regularly at the table and it’s such a sweet success for me.

A Photo Of Me Taken 20 Years Ago

Oct 25, 2011 by

Remember when we were little and digital cameras haven’t been invented yet?

Getting the pictures developed then was something I dreaded. What if my hair was a mess? What if there’s smudge on my face? What if I looked short of a monster?! LOL!

Our children are so lucky they have lots of baby pictures. We now have mobile phones, digital cameras, iPads, webcams, and DSLRs to capture our children’s milestones. We now have more pictures than ever that organizing them has even become a problem. For the first time in our lives we can actually screen and discard the pictures showing our not best self like accidentally showing a peek of our ladies underwear during Aunt Martha’s wedding reception.

Anyway, so here’s a photo of me taken 23 years ago. Thank God it’s a decent picture. I am the cute one in the middle. LOL!

We were singing the alphabet song and I was holding the letter T. Funny because all my life I used to think I was holding the letter J. I guess it just proves we really can’t trust our childhood memories. Now I wonder if I got other memories wrong… LOL!

See my beautiful braided hair? That was courtesy of my beloved grandmother. She used to braid my hair during special occasions and she was good at it too. It used to take ages for my hair to be braided and I had to sit still. Sometimes it would hurt but I always liked it whenever she braided my hair.

See my black and white shoes? Those shoes were a gift from my mom from Japan. She was working in an electronics company at that time and she was one of the few sent to Japan for training.

Why A Sofa is Important

Oct 24, 2011 by

I am really particular when it comes to choosing our sofa. I don’t mind splurging on one because it is the focal point of our living room. It is the first thing visitors see when they visit our house. That’s also where we will entertain our guests so it must not only look good but also be comfortable to sit on. Ours is one of the most used furniture in the house. Since we still have small kids we got a black one. It was a genius move really because I don’t have a heart attack every time my son drops his peanut butter sandwich accidentally or when my baby drools over it. The disadvantage about dark sofas is it can get hot.

I am also a fan of those big seaters. The bigger the sofa, the better for me because sometimes I want to lie down on it while watching my favorite shows on TV. That’s why when we bought our first one I bought the biggest one I can afford. It almost didn’t fit our small apartment but we never ran out of space to sit on. *wink

If you’re looking for an affordable sofa you can buy one at sofasofa.co.uk. They have these elegant styles at affordable prizes. You can choose the color you want and even order pillows to go with it.

My Twenty Favorites

Oct 24, 2011 by

1. My lazy boy which I use for breastfeeding. We saw it on sale and bought it on the spot. It reclines and it rocks – perfect for putting baby to sleep. It’s so soft and comfortable that I don’t suffer any back pain even when I’m sitting for long periods. My hubby loves it too and I hope we can buy a double one in the future.

2. My Macbook pro was really just a dream a year ago and now that I got it I can’t be more happier. I’m not an expert with Mac software but every time I learn something new about it I would really marvel at how much time they invested on making it user friendly. I use it everyday not just for work but for managing our home like researching for lasagna recipes, planning our family calendar, or budgeting our finances.

3. My small TV it in our room. I even use it more than our LCD TV.

4. My hubby’s iPad. It’s one of the best inventions I swear! I also love the Apps in the Apple App store. :)

5. Our king sized bed! It’s so big that the four of us can fit there vertically or horizontally. It doesn’t matter really what position we sleep because we fit anyway.

6. My gold watch my dad gave me. It’s timeless. I’ve had it for a decade already.

7. Our car which takes us everywhere we want to go. We don’t get to use it that often ever since hubby decided to work at home but we’re glad it’s there every time we need to use it.

8. Our Dlink router. Okay, I know this is so trivial but for two years we were using a router from CDR King and our internet was so crappy. The unfortunate thing was we had no idea it was that router causing our crappy connection we just assumed all routers are the same. We complained over and over to PLDT to no avail and we just gave up. Then when we got a free Dlink router that’s when we finally realized it was our router that was causing it all along. Grrr… all those years of heartache just for that router!

9. Buko juice. I was a non-drinker before I got pregnant with my youngest but I started drinking when I got pregnant so I won’t get UTI. It worked and I had developed a taste for it. My baby is now 10 months old but we’re still drinking it until now. I hope one day we won’t drink any more of those artificial juices and just drink this buko goodness.

10. DVDs because some movies aren’t really worth it watching at the movie theaters but at home it’s actually pretty good.

11. Our worktable. We had our neighbor make one for us and that’s where my hubby works and my son homeschool everyday.

12. My Whirlpool Automatic washing machine. Do I need to elaborate? :)

13. Our toilet bidet. If you don’t have one still, it’s about time you buy one. This is so useful! You won’t leave mess with the tabo at the toilet floor.

14. Our Carrier Aircon because with two kids we can’t survive without one in the house.

15. Sleepworth pillows I bought from SM. Even after three years it’s still in good shape unlike other cheap pillows.

16. My old laptop. It’s now used by Bam and Z but it’s still one of my favorites because it’s so durable and it has helped me with my work for years.

17. Our Uratex foam. This is without doubt the best foam whether for your bed or sofa. Do not ever ever try any other brand because you’ll regret it.

18. Our oven toaster where we do our reheating needs.

19. Our L-shaped sofa – again, a gift from my Dad.

20. Pera Palaguin Mo Books which I must have read four times already. Please buy it if you are clueless about managing your money.

I have been blogging for four years but I haven’t posed for a decent picture until now.  That picture also features my newest gadget – my 2011 Macbook Pro that I bought from my blogging money.

Please check my other blog if you haven’t visited it. :)
